Featured In A Magazine

Exciting news! I am featured in the Fall 2016 issue of Backdrop Magazine, which is a locally printed publication in Athens, Ohio. When you flip to page 10, you'll see that the headline reads, "Review The Brew" and includes two full pages about my channel! I am so grateful that a fellow photojournalist friend, Amanda Damelio, pitched my story. She happened to be the photo editor for the magazine at the time and personally made sure this happened. Once it was approved by the Backdrop team, the whole process was really simple (for me at least). I soon met up with Katie Kingery, one of the writers for the magazine, at a local shop called Brenen's Coffee Cafe for my interview. We talked for a while as she recorded the conversation and asked a few questions. Then it was over. As for the photos, Damelio met me at the And Beer store on Court Street as I picked out pumpkin beers for the upcoming October episodes. Later that week, she joined me during filming of Episode 22 on my porch. Those were the only two times she photographed and then that was over as well.

After that, I eagerly waited until the issue came out before Election Day and grabbed a bunch of copies. Damelio and Kingery nailed it; the lead photo was intriguing and the article was even better! However, I do only have one complaint. On the accompanying page, five beers were picked out but only one was craft beer. I was kind of upset at these choices since they weren't even the beers I reviewed in the featured episode. Not a huge deal though and I'm really exited my craft beer channel made it to print! Huge thank you to Kingery, Damelio and the staff at Backdrop Magazine for spreading the word about Craft Beer Fridays on YouTube.
